I was recently contacted by the organisers os the European Doctors Orchestra to help them with images so they could promote themselves going forward. This I jumped at as they raise funds for charitable causes and I wanted to do my bit. Birmingham Town Hall was the venue for the very large orchestra as well as 130 strong choir made up of locals choirs. Jack Lovell-Huckle conducted and the soloist was Judith Le Breuilly (mezzo soprano) A mention to the three staff at the Town H

Royal Festival Hall - Behind The Scenes
I was recently booked to photograph the Bach Choir and London Youth Choir perform St Matthews Passion by JS Bach in the Royal Festival Hall in London. This would involve 7 hours of driving, a 2am start to make sure I could get through the heart of London and find parking and an emission charge of £21 for just being there! Car parking was easy as Joe from the Bach Choir told me the best place to park on a Sunday. I approached the artists entrance of the RFH at 5:30am to just g

Worcester Choral - Duruflé, Haydn & Boulanger
A magical night of music at our season-opening concert at Worcester Cathedral last night. Three choral gems by Duruflé, Haydn & Boulanger, plus the privilege of hearing Elgar's Enigma Variations performed by the superb Meridian Sinfonia symphony orchestra. Heartfelt thanks to our appreciative audience, accomplished WFCS chorus, wonderful soloists Alexis Hutchinson Alto and Charne Rochford, and to our peerless, beloved conductor Samuel Hudson.

Esther v Ryanair
A professional violinist said Ryanair refused to let her board with her priceless instrument, forcing her to book a last-minute flight with another carrier. A lot of passengers bring equipment they need for work aboard flights — laptops, cellphones, notepads. But when professional musician Esther Abrami brings hers on an airplane — a violin made in the 19th century by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume — she’s carrying a precious artifact. “The violin is a piece of art,” she told The Wa

Right Artist Wrong Lens
Taking photos of soloists during a concert is a hit and miss affair when you don't know when the soloist is going to perform. Let's take the concert in Gloucester Cathedral last weekend as an example. Dame Sarah Connolly was singing' who I have never photographed previously at the end of the first half but I didn't know when exactly so instead of having my 400mm lens with me I left it behind while getting some wide shots of the choir. So I only had the 70-210mm lens with me.
